UPUTĀUA is a founder-led supervision practice based in Auckland, New Zealand, founded by Tania To’oa Sita. We provide professional, cultural and group supervision, with online supervision available to practitioners and organisations throughout Aotearoa New Zealand. Our practice is built around something simple but important: people need space to think, speak honestly, work through complexity and feel supported while carrying professional responsibility.

Tania To'oa Sita
Founder-led supervision
Social Worker / Supervision Expert
Tania brings a social-work lens to supervision that is grounded in reflection, relationships, culture and the realities of working with people.
Her approach recognises that practitioners are often carrying responsibility for other people while also navigating their own uncertainty, pressure, professional expectations and cultural context. Supervision creates room to work through that honestly, without losing sight of accountability or the realities behind the work.
People often come to supervision carrying more than a case, a decision or a difficult conversation. They may be carrying responsibility, uncertainty, cultural expectations, emotional weight, organisational pressure and the need to keep showing up for others. UPUTĀUA creates space to slow things down, speak honestly, make sense of what is happening and leave with greater clarity about what comes next.
Supervision should be thoughtful and accountable without becoming cold or clinical. UPUTĀUA approaches professional reflection with care, curiosity and respect for the person behind the role, while keeping professional responsibility, boundaries and good practice firmly in view.
Professional practice does not happen outside culture. Identity, relationships, values, whānau, community, organisational environments and cultural expectations can all shape how situations are experienced and understood. UPUTĀUA makes room for those realities within reflective supervision rather than treating them as separate from practice.
Not every professional situation has an obvious answer. Supervision can create space to examine uncertainty, boundaries, difficult relationships, ethical tension, responsibility, recurring patterns and the parts of the work that are sometimes hard to say out loud.
UPUTĀUA and its founder, Tania To’oa Sita, are based in Auckland. Through online supervision, we support practitioners, social workers, teams and organisations across Aotearoa New Zealand. Whether you are in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch or another region, you can enquire about accessing professional, cultural or group supervision online.
